Case Study: The Learning Difference

The Learning Difference provide specialist training in Business Services. They were seeking to provide accredited training for its clients however, time and experience in managing compliance within the Australian Quality Training Framework were a challenge.

terra cordis was commissioned to assist with their preparations for Registration as a Training Organisation with the NSW Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board (VETAB). To do this, terra cordis worked closely with The Learning Difference CEO to develop an Operations Manual that closely reflected the current practices of the organisation.

Given the short lead time and strict compliance requirements, it was essential that all The Learning Difference staff could adjust their practices if and where required. An essential element therefore in preparing this document and achieving agreement amongst the office bearers and including procedures currently undertaken and not yet documented.

Additionally, terra cordis reviewed the training package and delivery plans and provided recommendations for gaps between these and the Business Services competencies that were required. We then developed tailored assessment templates to be used within the existing training format.

Finally, terra cordis coached The Learning Difference CEO in preparation for the Compliance Audit. This included a mock run through of anticipated questions and requests for evidence. Prior to the final application for registration, a review of all documentation was undertaken.

The VETAB audit proceeded successfully and the Learning Difference now operate as an RTO, providing training and assessment in the Business Services Package, and providing nationally accredited training for their clients.
